Position Overview:
The Finance Director will play a critical role in overseeing the financial operations. This position is responsible for ensuring strong financial management, accurate reporting, and forward-looking financial insights to support strategic growth. The role requires balancing robust financial controls with commercial acumen to enable expansion across regulated markets while ensuring compliance with licensing, tax, and regulatory requirements.
Location: Ta‘ Xbiex, Malta
Salary: Negotiable, depending on experience.
What you’ll be doing:
- Financial Management & Reporting:
- Act as deputy to the CFO, contributing to overall corporate strategy and decision-making
- Lead strategic planning, financial modelling, and investment analysis for expansion into new markets and verticals
- Partner with executive management on commercial negotiations, pricing models, and revenue opportunities
- Support in investment projects - Financial Management & Reporting:
- Oversee financial operations across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant reporting
- Manage consolidated group accounts, multi-currency reporting, and IFRS compliance
- Present financial results, forecasts, and insights to the board and investors
- Ensure robust governance, internal controls, and risk management frameworks - Business Partnering & Commercial Finance:
- Provide financial leadership to Commercial, Product, and Technology teams
- Drive ROI analysis on game development, distribution partnerships, and aggregator agreements
- Evaluate product profitability, pricing structures, and promotional models (e.g. jackpots, bonus engines, white-label deals)
- Translate complex financial data into actionable insights for senior stakeholders - Tax, Treasury & Regulatory Oversight:
- Manage global tax strategy, including transfer pricing, VAT/GST, and gaming duties
- Oversee treasury, banking relationships, and funding strategy
- Ensure compliance with multiple gaming authority requirements (MGA, UKGC, Gibraltar, Isle of Man, etc.)
- Support board compliance with corporate governance and regulatory reporting obligations - Automation & Efficiency:
- Champion automation of financial processes to reduce manual work and improve scalability
- Drive ERP adoption, BI dashboards, and reporting tool optimisation
- Implement automated reconciliations for aggregator revenues, royalties, and intercompany flows
Ensure finance supports the business with data-driven, real-time insights. - Leadership & Team Development:
- Lead and mentor a multi-disciplinary finance team covering accounting, FP&A, tax, and treasury
- Build a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Align team goals with business objectives, ensuring finance is a proactive partner to the business
- Develop future finance leaders within the team
What you’ll bring to the role:
- A professional accounting designation (CPA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) is required.
- Strong, progressive experience in finance, with at least 3 years in a senior finance role in iGaming, tech, or another digital/regulated industry.
- Strong background in digital industries, iGaming, or technology with exposure to B2B game/content models
- Proven experience managing multi-entity, multi-jurisdiction finance structures
- Demonstrated track record in financial strategy, business partnering, and executive stakeholder management
- Experience with automation, ERP implementation, and BI tools
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence at board level
